We just hit the 31st record high of the year! Prior to this year, we went almost two years with no record highs.

We keep hearing new investors say things like, “we don’t want to invest at a peak!” or “we will just wait to invest once the market crashes.

BUT, there’s a good chance that despite currently being at a record high, when you zoom way out, the market will never be this low again. It’s only high compared to the past. That says nothing about what the market will do in the future. And, if you invest for a long enough time, you will experience many more record highs.

For example, in 2017 the stock market hit 62 record highs. If given the opportunity today, investors would do anything to be able to go back and invest their money then! (The S&P 500 is up 179% since then).

Record highs are part of the investing journey. You should not be scared of them. The best path forward is to keep investing a bit of every paycheck each month and let compound growth work its magic. Future you will be very happy!
